Why November is a Great Month to Vacation on 30A
November brings a slower pace to 30A, cooler weather and the beginning of the holiday season at the beach. Average highs are around 71°, evenings cool into the 50s and Gulf temperatures settle around 72°.
The beginning of the month is peaceful with plenty of room to enjoy the beach, bike through town or spend an afternoon shopping. There are also some great annual events sprinkled throughout the month. Then Thanksgiving week arrives and 30A starts to feel a little more festive. Families come into town for the holiday, annual traditions return and Christmas celebrations begin popping up throughout the beach communities.

November typically brings highs around 71° with lows near 55°, while Gulf temperatures average around 72°.
You’ll still get plenty of warmer afternoons for spending time outside, but mornings and evenings can be cool. It’s great weather for bike rides, walks on the beach and afternoons exploring the different towns along 30A.
Pack layers, bring a sweatshirt or light jacket and don’t leave the swimsuit at home. A seasonally heated pool can definitely still get plenty of use this time of year.
Crowd Levels in November
November is a slower month on 30A, but that’s a big part of the charm. Outside of a few popular events and Thanksgiving week, traffic is lighter, restaurants are easier to get into and there’s plenty of room to spread out on the beach.
It’s also some of our favorite weather for actually getting out and enjoying 30A. Throw on a sweatshirt for a morning walk on the beach, grab a warm cup of coffee before a bike ride or spend the afternoon wandering through the shops without the summer heat.
There are a few busier stretches throughout the month as annual festivals and events bring people into town. Thanksgiving week is the biggest shift, with families heading to the beach to spend the holiday together and kick off the Christmas season.
For most of November though, things are peaceful, easygoing and perfect for a fall trip to 30A.
Activities and Things to Do on 30A in November
November gives you a little bit of everything. The beginning of the month is quieter with cool weather and plenty of reasons to spend the day outside. By Thanksgiving, the beach communities are starting to light up for Christmas with tree lightings, holiday markets and visits from Santa.
Shop the Year-Round Farmers Markets
One thing we love about 30A is that farmers market season doesn’t end when summer does. Several markets continue throughout the year, which means November brings a new selection of seasonal produce, baked goods, local products and other finds.
Grab a coffee and spend your morning browsing. It’s an easy way to slow down and see a little more of the local side of 30A.
Listen to Sounds of Seaside
Wednesday evenings bring live music to the Seaside Amphitheater with Sounds of Seaside. Grab dinner from one of the Airstreams, bring a chair or blanket and find a spot on the lawn to listen to a different performer each week.
Cooler November evenings make it an especially nice time to hang out in the amphitheater. Check the current schedule before you go for performance times and artists.
Spend Thanksgiving on 30A
Thanksgiving at the beach deserves to be an activity all on its own.
Bring the family together in a vacation home with a big kitchen and cook your traditional Thanksgiving dinner, then take everyone down to the beach for a walk afterward. If cooking isn’t part of your vacation plans, plenty of local restaurants offer Thanksgiving buffets, special menus, chef-prepared dinners and Thanksgiving meals to go.
However you decide to do dinner, there’s something pretty special about spending Thanksgiving together at the beach.
Watch the Holidays Arrive on 30A
Thanksgiving isn’t the only holiday celebrated in November. It also marks the beginning of Christmas on 30A.
The beach communities start decorating for the season with Christmas tree lightings, visits from Santa, holiday concerts, markets and plenty of family traditions. Thanksgiving week is an especially fun time to visit because you can celebrate one holiday and roll right into the next.
Christmas at the beach might look a little different, but palm trees wrapped in lights are pretty hard to beat.
Take a Sunrise or Sunset Walk on the Beach
You don’t need 85° weather to enjoy the beach. November mornings and evenings are some of the best times for a long walk along the Gulf.
For sunrise, throw on a cozy sweater, pick up a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and head down to the sand while everything is still quiet. If you’re more of a sunset person, grab a glass of wine or a cocktail and watch the sky turn pink and orange over the Gulf.
No beach chairs or coolers required. Just take a walk and enjoy it.
Get a Head Start on Christmas Shopping
November is the perfect excuse to revisit shopping on 30A, especially once the holiday season starts.
Spend an afternoon popping into the shops in Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, Seaside, WaterColor and the other communities along 30A. You’ll start seeing seasonal merchandise, Christmas gifts and plenty of 30A finds that make great presents to take home.
And yes, this is another activity that pairs very well with a cup of coffee.
30A Events in November
November has a packed event calendar, starting with food, wine and film and ending with some of 30A’s favorite holiday traditions.
Early in the month, Seeing Red Wine Festival brings wine tastings and special events to Seaside, Mountainfilm on Tour brings documentary films under the stars to WaterColor and Alys Beach Crafted celebrates food, drinks and craftsmanship throughout Alys Beach. Rosemary Beach Uncorked is another November favorite, with an evening of food and wine pairings throughout town.
Thanksgiving morning starts with the 30A Thanksgiving Day Races in Rosemary Beach, including the annual 10K, 5K and fun run.
Then Christmas takes over 30A. Seaside Holiday Parade & Turn on the Town, Breakfast with Santa at Fish Out of Water, the Rosemary Beach Christmas Tree Lighting, Alys in Winter Wonderland and the Old Florida Holiday & Winter Market all help kick off the season with tree lightings, Santa visits, holiday shopping, live music and plenty for the kids.

Places to Eat on 30A
Marrow Private Chefs

Our favorite might be the Hook & Cook experience. You catch the fish and their chefs turn it into dinner complete with sides, salads and dessert. They also offer sommelier services if you want wine pairings to go along with your meal.

Pizza by the Sea
Pizza by the Sea is our pick when pizza night is on the agenda. With multiple locations along 30A, it’s convenient no matter where you’re staying and there are plenty of options to keep the whole group happy. In fact, there are 36 pizzas on the menu, plus plenty of toppings if you’d rather build your own.
Eat there, bring it back to the rental for a cozy movie night or grab a pizza and take it down to the beach. Add a glass of wine and you’ve got a pretty great November evening.
Renaissance French Restaurant
If you’re ready for a change from the seafood you’ve been eating all week, Renaissance French Restaurant is one you don’t want to miss.
It’s a little piece of French cuisine at the beach, palm trees included. Start with the Escargots de Bourgogne because, well, you’re at a French restaurant. You have to try them. For dinner, the Le Carré d’Agneau is some of the best lamb on 30A, served with ratatouille and absolutely worth ordering.
Borago
Italian food on a cool fall evening just makes sense, and Borago in Grayton Beach is one of our favorites for it.
Everything is made from scratch with indoor and outdoor dining tucked away in Grayton. Start with the focaccia and tomato bisque, then dip the focaccia in the bisque. You’ll thank us later.
The three-meat Bolognese is rich and hearty for a cooler night, while the salmon is another can’t-miss if you’re looking for something lighter.
La Crema
Right in the heart of Rosemary Beach, La Crema is perfect for a romantic date night or an evening of small plates and drinks with friends.
Order several tapas for the table so everyone gets to try a little bit of everything, pour another glass of wine and don’t rush through dinner. La Crema is made for slowing down and enjoying a good meal together.
Whatever you do, save room for the chocolate fondue. And on a cool November evening, add a cup of their sipping chocolate too.
Farm & Fire
Tucked along the Choctawhatchee Bay in Santa Rosa Beach, Farm & Fire is a great option when everyone in the group wants something different. The menu covers everything from sushi and pizza to pasta, burgers, seafood and steaks, but the variety doesn’t come at the expense of a good meal.
Start with sushi and a cocktail, share a pizza with the table or go straight for seafood or steak while you take in the bay views.
If there’s a wait, head downstairs for a cocktail while the kids play along the little stretch of beach. It makes waiting on a table a whole lot easier.
Where to Stay on 30A in November
November is a month for gathering, so the home you choose can be a big part of the trip.
If you’re coming for Thanksgiving, look for a home with an expansive kitchen where everyone can help cook, a dining table big enough for the whole group and plenty of living space for football, games and time together after dinner.
A seasonally heated private pool is still a great amenity this time of year, while fireplaces, fire pits and outdoor living spaces become even better once the evenings cool down. Bikes are another plus because November weather makes it easy to leave the car at the house and ride through town.
